Develop to Disrupt is a virtual hackathon for high school, middle school, and first-year university students hosted by World of Devs and Canada’s Innovation Corridor Summit! Develop to Disrupt is a great opportunity to work together and create disruptive technological solutions to solve real-world problems and issues at any scale and level. We have engaging workshops, activities, networking opportunities and the chance to win from a prize pool of over $35,000+ in cash and software. Not only that, the winners get to attend CICS and pitch to real investors from companies like Deloitte and Amazon to fund their idea.

Judging Criteria

Criterion 1: Identification and Description of Problem
Is the problem the solution is for identified? Is the description of the problem accurate? Is the description of the problem valid and correct enough to create a solution? Is the importance and scale or level of the problem described? -
Criterion 2: Quality of The Solution
Would the presented solution be feasible in the real world? Is the rationale behind how the solution would solve the problem described? Are there existing solutions that are fairly similar or solve the problem in a better way? -
Criterion 3: Application of Technological Tools
What technological tools were used to produce the solution? Were different technological tools used efficiently and effectively? Are the technological tools used mentioned? How relevant or impressive was the use of technological tools in the solution? -
Criterion 4: Quality of the Business Plan
How effective was the unique value proposition surrounding the solution? Were methods of distribution identified? Were expenses and profits for the first year of operations identified? Were competitors identified? Were possible partnerships identified? -
Criterion 5: Quality of the Presentation
Was the presentation equally divided amongst the team members? Were team members confident, clear, and comprehensible? Was the presentation fluid and connected? Was the presentation within the minimum 3-minute and maximum 5-minute time limit?
